re: help
Hi Bella, I hope that you are feeling a bit better since you posted this
My name's Eva and I've had Anorexia since I was 14 (I'm 18 now). Having the ED has been really hard, but I think that there are two types of hard. There's the hard when I was completely in the depths of it and feeling as though there was no point continuing, and there was the hard where I am still able to do things that I like with my friends but that the ED doesn't like (meals out etc). I can assure you that the hard where you are challenging it is the best kind of hard! I would say that the best thing to do is seek support from friends and family and maybe alert them to the Beat website so that they can improve their understanding of EDs and give you the best support that you possibly can. Try and think about the things that you can do when the illness isn't dominant and the things that it takes away when it is (for me, I thought of things like having to go into hospital when it was dominant and being able to go for a walk when I wanted to or go shopping when I wanted when it isn't dominant.) Also, maybe make a poster of all of the things that you love or one with positive quotes and pin it on your wall? It might sound stupid and immature but I have found that helpful and it's made me smile and remember the positive things I in life, the things I love and not the negative things that the ED likes! Best wishes, Eva xxx
